Blackjack from Evolution Gaming - Classic Hands & Unique Variants

Without a doubt, Evolution Gaming offers a wide selection of live blackjack games from which to choose. In fact, it may well be the most extensive (and impressive!) live blackjack developer on the market.

Within the mix it has created, you'll find plenty of traditional blackjack variants, with standard rules and side bets - all of which are a great pick. You don't need our help for that. Just seeing blackjack by Evolution Gaming is a good indicator of quality, and any is a good bet. So that's our two cents on the matter.

What we're talking about here, rather, is how this software company stays true to its roots, constantly innovating and upping its game to remain relevant, with new blackjack variants brought to the online casino world. Many of these variants have become instant hits, and all are certainly titles we think you'd appreciate, since true blackjack lovers always appreciate a special twist, even if you're a traditionalist at heart.

Lightning Blackjack

Lightning Blackjack is one of the most beloved and best-known blackjack variants from Evolution Gaming - and perhaps the one most strongly associated with the brand. And duly so!

A true original with all the right elements, Lightning Blackjack not only adds a fresh twist to classic blackjack, but also multipliers that can deliver particularly high payouts. That's because whoever wins their hand, will multiply their bet (i.e. win) 2X to 25X more in the next round, if they land a second consecutive win.

Key features:

Lightning Blackjack

©Evolution Gaming

  • A Lightning Fee is added to each bet
  • Multipliers between 2X and 25X are given to players on a winning hand
  • This multiplier is applied to your next hand if you win
  • Bet limits: $1 to $25,000*
  • RTP: 99.56% / House edge: 0.44%

Infinite Blackjack

The infinite part of Infinite Blackjack refers to the number of participants who can gather round the live table. That is, an unlimited number of players can participate, and even play the same hand, while still making individual decisions on their cards.

Technically, 2 cards are dealt for all at the table to use. Then you each decide what you want to do next with that same hand. It's kind of interesting actually to see how so many people can get different results from the same 2 initial cards dealt. Plus, you've got great side bet options to keep it more interesting.

Key features:

Infinite Blackjack

©Evolution Gaming

  • Unlimited number of players per hand
  • Everyone plays the same hand, but makes individual decisions
  • 4 side bets are available: Any Pair, 21+3, Hot 3, and Bust It
  • Six Card Charlie rule applies
  • Bet limits: $1 to $25,000*
  • RTP: 99.47% / House edge: 0.53%

Blackjack Party

At this Blackjack Party, the focus isn't just on the card game, but above all on the fun - and you can share that fun with others. It's a party after all! And that's precisely why the popular Bet Behind feature is available for bystanders waiting for a seat at the table. Plus, there are often two dealers in action creating heightened entertainment and an all-round good mood.

This game is more about fun and camaraderie than massive wins, a mission it successfully achieves.

Key features:

Blackjack Party

©Evolution Gaming

  • Informal atmosphere focused on camaraderie and fun
  • 7 seats are available at the table
  • Players who are waiting for a seat can Bet Behind in the meantime
  • Chatty, bubbly dealers keep things light and entertaining
  • Bet limits: $5 to $25,000*
  • RTP: 99.29% / House edge: 0.71%

Easy Blackjack

Another unlimited number of players variant, Easy Blackjack is essentially a simplified version of the classic game. Instead of drawing cards, only the dealer gets dealt in here, while you bet on a predefined score of a 16, 17, 18, 19, or 20 value hand. That's it. You can't split, hit, or anything else.

You win if your bet beats the dealer's or they go bust, and get your money returned on a push. This makes getting started easier, as no standard blackjack strategy is required. At the same time, however, Easy Blackjack actually opens up new possibilities for a different type of strategic thinking, as well as tactical finesse.

The only other option is the Bust it side bet, which is settled outside the main hand.

The payout percentage, or house edge, depends on the number you choose (16, 17, 18, 19, or 20); the riskier the choice, the higher the potential winnings.

Key features:

Easy Blackjack Logo

©Evolution Gaming

  • Simplified blackjack variant
  • You choose a hand value and get dealt no cards
  • Only the dealer plays a regular hand with cards dealt
  • Payouts between 0.13 to 1 and 2.45 to 1
  • Bet limits: $1 to $75,000*
  • RTP: between 97.07% and 97.23% depending on which hand value you bet on

Free Bet Blackjack

Free Bet Blackjack delivers what its name suggests, to an extent. That is, this variant gives you the opportunity to split or double down on certain hands for free - without any additional stake. In fact, you'll get an automatic prompt offering you this option when relevant to your hand. This significantly changes the dynamics of the game, and requires a completely new approach.

In addition to the regular version, Evolution Gaming also offers Infinite Free Bet Blackjack, where an unlimited number of players can play the same hand simultaneously. And other select game titles from the provider also feature the popular Free Bet feature.

Key features:

Free Bet Blackjack

©Evolution Gaming

  • Free doubling down on an initial hand with a 9, 10, or 11 value
  • Free splitting of pairs except 10s and face cards
  • Perfect Pairs and 21+3 side bets available
  • Bet Behind feature available
  • Bet limits: $1 to $25,000*
  • RTP: 98.45% / House edge: 1.55%

Salon Privé

Salon Prive Blackjack is a game for true high rollers. Here, you not only sit alone at the table face-to-face with the dealer for truly personal attention, but you also get your own VIP room manager - all without any spectators, or any time limit pressures.

Access to these exclusive tables is strictly limited, however. Typically, a bankroll of at least several thousand dollars is required even to enter - usually at least 6,000 dollars or so. And the stakes are correspondingly high, with the minimum bet per hand being around $1,000. Like we said, a true high roller game.

Key features:

Salon Prive Blackjack

  • Private blackjack tables
  • Personal attention from a real dealer
  • No spectators allowed
  • Bet limits: $1,000 to $50,000*
  • RTP: 99.29% / House edge: 0.71%

Infinite Fun Fun 21 Blackjack

The double fun in this game's name isn't a typo, rather it's an indicator of what's to come.

Besides featuring Evolution Gaming's popular Infinite feature, allowing an unlimited number of players to participate in a hand simultaneously, Infinite Fun Fun 21 Blackjack boasts a number of special features. For starters, all 10s are removed from the deck. You can double down at any point, even on a split hand. And if both you and the dealer have a 21, it's not a push; you win!

Additionally, you are allowed to surrender your hand after the first 2 cards - for a predetermined payout. Plus, various side bets are also available, providing even more excitement and variety. And if that's not enough, there's the Bonus 21 and Super Bonus 21 payouts. Like the name says, fun and fun!

Key features:

Infinite Fun Fun 21 Blackjack

  • You win ties with a dealer 21
  • 10s are removed from the deck
  • Doubling down is allowed at any decision point (even on splits)
  • Special Bonus 21 and Super Bonus 21 payouts
  • 4 optional side bets: Hot 3, Bust It, Match, and 21+3
  • Bet limits: $1 to $2,500*
  • RTP: 99.37% / House edge: 0.63%

Bet Stacker Blackjack

In Bet Stacker Blackjack, with a little luck, you can increase the wager you've placed at the casino's expense. Basically, before each round begins, a card is randomly selected and assigned a multiplier. If you subsequently receive a card of this value, your bet is increased by 25, 50, 75, or even 100%.

So, for example, if you choose to wager $10 and receive a 50% bonus, your bet will actually be played as a $15 bet, and will, of course, be paid out based on this higher amount if you win. Keep in mind, however, this requires an additional bet of 10% of the original sum, per round, if you want in. So this is an equation, and risk-to-payoff consideration you'll need to calculate.

The Stacker variant of play, by the way, is available in both classic blackjack and Infinite versions. The latter of course allows an unlimited number of players to access the table. While both are great with this special feature, there are notably differences in the payout percentage and the side bets offered in the different Bet Stacker Blackjack variants.

Key features:

Bet Stacker Blackjack

©Evolution Gaming

  • The randomly generated bonus can automatically increase your stake by 25% to 100%
  • Available as a classic or Infinite version
  • 2 side bet options are available in the classic version
  • 4 side bets are available in the Infinite Bet Stacker Blackjack variation
  • Bet limits: $1 to $2,500* on Infinite/ $5 to $10,000* on classic
  • RTP: 99.47% / House edge: 0.53% for Infinite Bet Stacker Blackjack
  • RTP: 99.29% / House edge: 0.71% for Classic Bet Stacker Blackjack

Power Blackjack

Power Blackjack is a particularly exciting variation of the classic card game for several reasons. The most obvious one is the extended doubling feature. That is, in this game, in addition to doubling your bet, you can even triple or quadruple it. This opens up entirely new strategies - and is potentially quite lucrative.

However to balance things out, and keep things in the casino's favor (this is a gambling game after all), all 9s and 10s have been removed from the deck. As such, while the face cards remain, the gap left by the missing cards shouldn't be underestimated and is reflected in the comparatively high house edge.

Key features:

Power Blackjack

©Evolution Gaming

  • You can double, triple, or quadruple any starting hand
  • 9s and 10s are removed from the deck
  • Only offered as an Infinite Blackjack variant
  • Bet limits: $1 to $25,000*
  • RTP: 98.80% / House edge: 1.20%
0

Note: Power Blackjack is part of Evolution Gaming's Infinite family of games. This means an unlimited number of players can play the same hand simultaneously; a cool feature, but one that doesn't change the odds of winning.

VIP Blackjack

Evolution Gaming brings together a variety of exclusive blackjack offerings under the name VIP Blackjack. This is less about a single game title than a premium gaming experience - where you the player and your preferences are the focus.

Luxury, however, as we all know, comes at a price. Minimum bets start at $50, depending on the variant, but can also be significantly higher. Unlike the Salon Privé variant, access is not restricted to one-on-one private dealer play, so up to 7 players can sit at the table at a time. On the other hand, VIP games are more accessible than Salon Privé as you don't need a high roller bankroll in the thousands to get dealt in.

For international appeal, VIP Blackjack is offered in various languages, with variable limits, and in several variations. These include special formats such as VIP Free Bet and Speed Blackjack games.

Key features:

VIP Blackjack

©Evolution Gaming

  • Blackjack games for VIPs and high roller players
  • Various variants to choose from
  • Available in different languages
  • Bet limits depend on the variant, but generally start with a minimum bet of $50*
  • RTP and house edge are determined by the individual VIP variant you're playing

Bucharest Blackjack

Bucharest Blackjack is a tribute to the Romanian capital and its increasing popularity as a casino hotspot.

Although this variant has few special features, its standout differentiator is the obvious one; and that of course is that the action plays out and the dealers speak Romanian.

There's also another similarly localized variant, Bucharest Infinite Free Bet Blackjack. This is the well-known Infinite Free Bet Blackjack title from Evolution Gaming, just with Romanian-speaking dealers, rather than English.

Key features:

Bucharest Blackjack

©Evolution Gaming

  • Blackjack with Romanian speaking dealers
  • Available in standard and Infinite Free Bet versions
  • 4 side bets are available in Bucharest Infinite Free Bet Blackjack
  • Betting limits
    • $5 to $10,000 for Bucharest Blackjack
    • $1 to $10,000* for Bucharest Infinite Free Bet Blackjack
  • RTP:

    • Bucharest Infinite Free Bet Blackjack: 98.45% / House edge: 1.55%

First Person Blackjack

At first glance, First Person Blackjack looks like a standard live blackjack game. But it's not. Rather, it's an RNG blackjack game with 3D animation. This means that the results aren't determined by the dealer dealing the cards, and instead, like a traditional online variant, by a random number generator instead. In a way, you might say, it's like a combo effect of online and liver dealer games.

The camera work is particularly unique to give it a realistic feel. The shot changes, and depending on which or how many boxes you're playing, the perspective of the table does too. At times, you'll even feel like you're floating above the table.

In addition to the standard First Person Blackjack game, there's also a First Person Lightning Blackjack variant available too.

Key features:

  • 3D animated blackjack variant
  • Bet on 1 to 5 hands per round
  • Feels live, but is actually an RNG game

Live blackjack in different languages

Evolution Gaming didn't come to dominate the live gaming space by chance. It long ago set its eyes on the international market, creating the best technology around with the most potential appeal. To support that, beyond amazing interactivity, it has created a large selection of blackjack tables in different languages.

This means you can play live blackjack with dealers speaking your language whether it's English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, German, Russian, Turkish, or Arabic; and new ones are constantly being added to keep up with demand - so stay tuned!

Custom-made blackjack tables

For select casino partners, Evolution Gaming also offers a very special service customizing various blackjack tables to suit their needs. That's why you'll find different betting limits, for example, offered by different operators on the same game title.

This service isn't limited to simply placing a logo somewhere at a table mind you, nor merely adjusting the betting limits. Strong partners like Stake also have the option of creating completely customized rooms and gaming environments, as well as variants with their own rules, so that individual casinos may offer tables that aren't found anywhere else.

*Bet limits quoted vary depending on the online casino where you play each blackjack variant. We have chosen to list the largest betting range (the so-called spread) known to us. However, this means that in some casinos the maximum and even minimum possible bet may be higher, or lower. As such, we recommend you use this chart as an indicator, and check the individual game when you log on at the casino you've chosen for certainty.

Why Is Evolution Live Blackjack So Popular?

Evolution Gaming is the leader in live casino gambling, whether it's blackjack, roulette, or game shows you're talking about. And rightfully so. As the first company to focus exclusively on developing live casino games, it's investment has paid off, and to this day, continues to drive the market with a steady stream of new and innovative, always high-quality games.

Of course, there are now other providers making a name for themselves in the live gaming space, like Ezugi and Pragmatic Play. But Evolution definitely remains at the top, thanks to its ability to create and maintain the perfect combination of factors required to dominate continuously, year on year.

  1. High quality
  2. Excellent dealers
  3. Large selection of tables
  4. Great gaming experience on all devices
  5. Game play is safe and fair
  6. Many functions and setting options

High quality

When you talk about quality in connection with blackjack, it can obviously mean a variety of things. Fortunately, Evolution's titles impress across all areas you may prioritize, with fair rules, a relatively low house edge, great graphics, smooth play, and cool and unusual features that make each variation even more exciting.

The environment and atmosphere also play an important role in live blackjack. That is, the design of the studio where the game play takes place. Evolution performs well on this end too, with individually designed rooms, some with animations or virtual overlays - and always clearly laid out tables where the cards are dealt, giving you an engaging, lifelike feel.

Excellent dealers

Speaking of an engaging lifelike feel, the dealers and croupiers at Evolution Gaming are the backbone of this experience. That is, the studio has invested in attracting top talent, and ensuring the hosts are well-trained and appealing. They know exactly what they're doing at the table. They are just the right level of chatty, or not, depending on the variant. Plus, there are almost never any problems or situations where a player feels like something is wrong or the dealer doesn't know what to do.

But, saying that, humans are humans, and this is live gaming with real people. So even if a glitch arises, this clever studio has experienced supervisors on-hand - comparable to floor managers in a Vegas casino - to intervene and provide support to resolve any issues, quickly and professionally.

Large selection of tables

Evolution Gaming's selection of blackjack tables is impressive. In fact, so much so, that no brick-and-mortar casino or other studio can come close to competing. There are countless different variations with individual features, plus versions with different betting limits and in different languages.

As such, it's all but guaranteed that things will never get boring when you choose Evolution Gaming. And if there isn't a table or game you like at the moment, things can quickly change with new blackjack variants boasting unique features and functions regularly released for your entertainment.

Great gaming experience on all devices

In a mobile world, device agnostic play is key. Recognizing that, Evolution has made it its business to ensure that its full catalog of games, including live blackjack, is 100% mobile compatible.

Evolution mobileOf course you don't have to play on your mobile phone or tablet for that matter. But you most certainly can, without worrying about whether the game will run smoothly. And with no download required, everything works directly in your browser to make it all the easier.

Depending on the device you're playing on, the camera, zoom, and arrangement of the virtual elements on the blackjack table automatically adjust. This means you always get the best possible experience, ensuring you're able to enjoy Evolution games from anywhere - for the ultimate in mobile blackjack convenience and quality.

Game play is safe and fair

With Evolution Gaming blackjack fair play is a guarantee. That's because hardly any other company in the iGaming space is as comprehensively certified and holds as many online gambling licenses as this one.

eCOGRA LogoEvolution's games are tested by eCOGRA, among others. In addition, the company also holds licenses to program and provide online casino games from respected regulatory bodies around the world. These include well-known ones from Malta, Curaçao, and the UK Gambling Commission, as well as more local licenses in the US, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Romania, Uganda, and many other countries.

Many functions and setting options

The many features of Evolution Gaming titles - like the innovative ones of Lightning Blackjack and others that we've covered above - are certainly impressive. But here we want to bring your attention to the general functions and presets available at its blackjack tables, with the near unprecedented options offered by Evolution, allowing you to customize your experience in an unprecedented way.

For example, you can choose between two game interfaces. One is the full view, where all elements are displayed on one screen. The other is a split view, where the individual elements are separated, allowing you to focus more specifically on the game, the chat, or the surroundings as you please.

Setting iconYou can also adjust the general sound volume, game sound effects, and video stream quality to better suit your internet connection. Game statistics, as well as chat, are usually available. And those who like to multitask can even open multiple tables at once, so you can participate in up to 4 games simultaneously.

The Evolution Gaming Group: History and General Information

Circling back a bit, for those who are curious, let's look into who this industry giant is, and where it came from.

So Evolution is, strictly speaking, Evolution AB. Founded in 2006, the group is listed on the Swedish stock exchange and is the umbrella organization for numerous brands and companies.

Many of these have been acquired and integrated into the group over the years. As a result, the portfolio includes not only games from Evolution, but also online slots from NetEnt as well as other well-known providers.

evolution-brands©Evolution | These are some of the better known brands from the Evolution Group.MoreLess

So extensive is the group's reach, that you may be surprised to read this list covering some of the better-known brands that come under the Evolution Gaming umbrella. They include:

  • Ezugi - founded in 2012, acquired in 2018
  • NetEnt - founded in 1996, acquired in 2020
  • Red Tiger - founded in 2014, acquired in 2020
  • Big Time Gaming - founded in 2011, acquired in 2021
  • Nolimit City - founded in 2014, acquired in 2022

Beyond being the umbrella for some of the best online casino games in the business, the Evolution Gaming studio remains true to its core, and now offers around 1,700 live tables, operating in countless locations, including Malta, Spain, Romania, and the United States.

Certificate iconTo be able to deliver its games to online casinos around the world, Evolution Gaming also holds dozens of gaming licenses from top regulatory bodies. Some of these permits are tied to specific brands and gaming formats (for example, lotteries or slot machines), while others cover multiple areas across the gambling experience.

Some of the better recognized licenses in the iGaming industry held by Evolution Gaming brands include those from the:

  • Alderney Gambling Control Commission
  • Belgium Gaming Commission
  • Danish Gambling Authority
  • Gibraltar Gambling Commission
  • Hellenic Gaming Commission HGC
  • Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission
  • Malta Gaming Authority
  • Spain Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling
  • United Kingdom Gambling Commission

Thanks to organic growth and targeted acquisitions, Evolution is now one of the industry's largest companies. Beyond presence at almost every worthwhile online casino in one form or another, its reputation is reflected in its shareholders list, which includes large holdings by BlackRock and Vanguard, two of the world's largest financial services providers.

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Tiger Global Management also hold significant stakes. And as a publicly listed company, Evolution regularly provides financial reports, its financial calendar, and trading information through the 'Investors' section of its website.

Other Live Casino Games in Evolution's Catalog

The Evolution Gaming portfolio includes not only live blackjack, but the entire range of live casino games, and then some covering table and card games of all sorts with live roulette and poker style games having a particularly strong presence.

However, as you may know, Evolution is particularly famous for its game show titles - a success story that began with the origination of the concept in 2017 with the release of the Dream Catcher game. Since then, its offering has steadily expanded - to include titles like Deal or No Deal, Gonzo's Treasure Map, and MONOPOLY Live - with other live providers copying the format, piggybacking on its popularity and trying to play catchup in this most exciting of spaces.

Interestingly, despite building its reputation as THE live game developer, Evolution also went on to create the First Person concept, which although it does indeed feel lifelike, is actually RNG based. Other than that, it's gone beyond hosting games in live studios, to cooperate with some brick-and-mortar casinos, giving you the opportunity to virtually visit and gamble at real casinos through your screen.

As for what to play, beyond blackjack, while there are a near infinite number of options across the various categories, these are some of the most popular ones, and amongst our top picks too.

Evolution Gaming Blackjack FAQs

  1. Where can I play Evolution Gaming blackjack?
  2. Can Evolution games be manipulated or rigged?
  3. Who owns Evolution Gaming?
  4. How does live blackjack technically work?
  5. Which Evolution blackjack games are particularly popular?
  6. Is Evolution blackjack better than Pragmatic Play or other providers?

1. Where can I play Evolution Gaming blackjack?

Truthfully, finding an online casino that offers Evolution Gaming live blackjack is quite easy. Recognized as the leader of the domain, most operators vie for its games, ultimately carrying them. However, some will offer more of a selection than others, and a select minority will even have exclusive twists on the Evolution blackjack games.

To find the best of the lot, we refer you to our recommended Evolution Gaming blackjack casinos list above. All of these places are great, across the board, with excellent versions of these games, as well as an overall safe and fair environment.

2. Can Evolution games be manipulated or rigged?

No, it's not possible for you or the casino to cheat when playing Evolution games. Of course, these are real, live games where the human factor plays a crucial role. But unlike the hustle and bustle of a traditional casino, they take place in a controlled studio environment. This allows for significantly more comprehensive monitoring than in a land-based casino with hundreds or even thousands of players. So there's no sleight of hand or signaling that would be missed by you or the casino.

In addition, both the games and all accessories used are certified and regularly tested, eliminating the possibility of fraud or manipulation even further.

3. Who owns Evolution Gaming?

Evolution AB is a publicly listed company, meaning the company belongs to its shareholders.

It first listed on the Nasdaq First North Premier, but moved to trading on the main market of Nasdaq Stockholm in June 2017.There are a total of over 211 million shares currently in circulation.

The three largest shareholders are Candle Lake Limited (approximately 15%), Österbahr Ventures AB, the investment vehicle of Evolution founders Jens von Bahr and Fredrik Österberg (approximately 10.6%), and Capital Group (approximately 9.96%). This of course is subject to change and fluctuation.

In addition, numerous other companies, funds, and even some private individuals hold shares in Evolution AB.

4. How does live blackjack technically work?

Evolution's live blackjack games are a blend of real and virtual elements. The dealing of the cards - including all accompanying actions - is performed by real people, at real tables, with real cards. This action is streamed directly to your device (as in computer or mobile screen) in real time. So you're seated there with the physical dealer at the actual table, or at least that's how it feels.

Other components, such as the multipliers in Lightning Blackjack, are computer-generated. In this case, they're determined by a random number generator, with no human element involved.

Bets are placed using virtual chips, since only you can handle your chips for wagering. That being said, despite all the technology involved, it's important to remember that the stakes are entirely real. This means you're playing with real money, just digitally and need to care for it as that.

5. Which Evolution blackjack games are particularly popular?
